The Art of Dance Meets the Art of Jewelry: Pilobolus at Hamilton Hill

Pilobolus dancer wearing Tahitian pearl jewelry at Hamilton Hill Jewelry in Durham

What happens when some of the best dancers in the world are introduced to some of the finest jewelry in the world? We found out!

At Hamilton Hill, we are reliving a late-July evening when the Pilobolus dancers attended our cast party after performing Trips as part of the 2026 American Dance Festival. HH owner and gemologist Sarah Hill delighted in decorating the dancers in sophisticated designer looks and the dancers expressed their delight with big smiles and—of course—movement as only Pilobolus can do. The dancers, the HH team, and ADF special guests had a ball being silly, playful, and serious (as in, they seriously loved the jewelry and how they looked in it!).

This close-knit artistic connection is an exciting part of Durham’s cultural scene. ADF has been based in Durham since 1977. The Durham and greater NC communities deeply value ADF and realize how fortunate they are to experience ADF each summer. For decades Pilobolus has delighted audiences (blown minds, really) and expanded perceptions of dance and what the body is capable of. Fun fact: A former Pilobolus dancer, Gaspard Louis, is married to ADF Executive Director Jodee Nimerichter!

Hamilton Hill Jewelry, founded in 2001, is known nationally and internationally for its modernist and contemporary designer jewelry crafted at home and abroad. At the cast party, dancers wore jewelry from Gellner (ropes of Tahitian pearls), Peter Schmid|Atelier Zobel (bold multi-metal art pieces), Dana David (everyday Diamonds with matte finished metals), Andre Ribeiro (black rubber with inlaid fine Diamonds), and more. They brought the jewelry to life and were surprised by how it served them, too.

Hamilton Hill Jewelry was proud to support Pilobolus at American Dance Festival this year. We wish to thank dancers Connor Chaparro, Alexis Cruz-Castro, Ryan Hayes, Isaac Huerta, Hannah Klinkman and Anouk Otsea, as well as Pilobolus Executive/Co-Artistic Director Renée Jaworski and Artistic Director Matt Kent. We are also grateful to ADF Executive Director Jodee Nimerichter who made the experience possible.
